But there is good musical reason to attend.

The headliner group is the critically acclaimed Lonesome River Band, which takes the stage at about 8 p.m.

Preceding the band’s performance is Charleston’s own Shovels & Rope, the husband-and-wife duo of Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst, who have been on tour impressing audiences with their down-home, front-porch country sound.

Other local bands appearing at the festival include Blue Plantation, Bluestone Ramblers, Southern Flavor Bluegrass and Flatt City.

The festival, which begins at 11:30 a.m. and runs until about 10 p.m., will take place outdoors at Point of Pines Plantation, at the end of Point of Pines Road, accessible from S.C. Highway 174.

The event is presented by The Huffines Company and Peters Point Productions.

Festivalgoers can purchase local farm-fresh food and enjoy views of the North Edisto River.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the gate.
