Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics accepting applications for Class of 2016

The Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics in Hartsville is accepting applications from high school sophomores who are interested in attending the two-year, public, residential high school.

The deadline for applications is Feb. 14, and applications are available at:

Applicants must be current high school sophomores and South Carolina residents; have a PSAT score of 110 or higher for the math and verbal sections; have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher; complete geometry, algebra I and II, English II and one lab science by the end of sophomore year.

The selective school considers students’ courses, class rank, teacher recommendations and extracurricular activities. It also values aptitude and proven performance in science, technology, engineering and math, which are its focus areas.
