Charleston Police have arrested a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred Thursday on Conroy Street.

Anterio Bolton, 18, of Dundrum Street in North Charleston, is charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, police spokesman Charles Francis said. Bolton is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.

The victim was walking on Conroy Street about 8:00 p.m. when he was approached by two men, one of whom

was armed with a handgun, Francis said. They ordered him to empty his pockets. When he refused, one of the suspects struck

him in the head with the handgun, he said.

The suspects ordered him again to empty his pockets. When he didn’t, he was struck in the head again with the handgun and it fired, Francis said.

The suspects then reached into his pockets and took his money, Francis said. The victim’s injuries were minor and didn’t require medical assistance, he said.
