A Charleston man is accused of pointing a gun at his girlfriend and 6-year-old son and threatening to kill them, according to police.
Cornelius Brown, 24, of Avalon Circle, was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and unlawful conduct toward a child.
Brown’s girlfriend told Charleston police that she was with Brown and her son at their Moss Creek Apartment home at 9:55 p.m. Saturday when Brown punched her in the cheek while she was holding their child, an incident report stated.
She told investigators that Brown then took a gun out of the closet and pulled back the slide, according to the report. Brown pointed the gun at the woman and child and said he would kill her and that he had nothing left to lose, the report stated.
The child told an investigator that “daddy had a gun.”
Police spoke to Brown, who told investigators he didn’t have a gun in the home, then stated “he pulled a knife on” his girlfriend.
Police found a gun in the closet on top of several plastic bins, the report stated. The gun was loaded with a cartridge in the chamber, and five more in the magazine, according to the report.
