About 15 million APC 7 and 8 series SurgeArrest surge protectors made before 2003. The surge protectors can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
The model and serial numbers are on a label on the bottom of the surge protector. The two numbers that follow the first letter or letters in the serial number sequence indicate the year of manufacture. The unit is included in the recall if the numbers are 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01 or 02. APC and the words Personal, Professional, Performance or Network are printed on them.
They were sold from January 1993 through December 2002.
There have been about 700 reports of overheating and melting and 55 claims of property damage from smoke and fire. There are 13 reports of injuries.

Cracker Barrel is recalling nearly 8,000 BBQ ant votive candle holders because they can break and create a fire and burn hazard.
The company said the decorative arms can break. No incidents or injuries have been reported.
The black metal holders are 6.5 inches tall. The words “Backyard BBQ” and “Glass Votive Holder” are on the front of the package. SKU number 426154 is on the bottom of the packaging.
They were sold at Cracker Barrel stores from May through June for about $6. Consumers should immediately stop using them. They can be returned to any Cracker Barrel.
