Author presentations scheduled at the JCC

The Charleston Jewish Community Center at 1645 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd. in West Ashley is hosting a series of author presentations, beginning later this month and running until January.

Each program will feature book signings and receptions.

10:30 a.m. Oct. 27: Robert Weintraub, author of “The Victory Season: The End of World War II and the Birth of Baseball’s Golden Age.” With Andy Solomon of The Citadel. $10 JCC members, $14 nonmembers. Includes bagel brunch.

8 p.m. Nov. 2: Jeremy Dauber, author of “The Worlds of Sholem Aleichem: The Remarkable Life and Aftermath of the Man who Created Tevye.” $10 JCC members, $14 nonmembers. Includes wine and desserts.

1 p.m. Nov. 3: For young readers, P.J. Library storytelling with theatrical performances. Free.

8 p.m. Nov. 6: Martin Fletcher, author of “Jacob’s Oath,” a Holocaust-themed novel. Free.

7 p.m. Nov. 14: Allen Salkin, author of “From Scratch: Inside the Food Network.” With Hanna Raskin, food writer at The Post and Courier. $8 JCC members, $12 nonmembers.

7 p.m. Jan. 15: Joel Derfner, Charleston native and author of “Lawfully Wedded Husband: How My Gay Marriage Will Save the American Family.” $8 JCC and AFFA members, $12 nonmembers.

Cassandra King visits Library Society

The Charleston Library Society, 164 King St., hosts an evening with author Cassandra King, who will discuss her new novel, “Moonrise.”

The event is 6 p.m. Wednesday. “Moonrise” is a modern gothic tale inspired by Daphne du Maurier’s “Rebecca.”
