Berkeley (3-3, 1-0) at Hanahan (6-0, 1-0)
LAST YEAR: Hanahan won, 34-16.
COACHES: Jeff Cruce, Berkeley; Charlie Patterson, Hanahan.
NOTABLE: Berkeley has another tough game in this Region 8-AAA showdown. The Stags’ losses have come against teams that have combined for a 15-3 record. Hanahan, which goes up against its former coach, trailed Orangeburg-Wilkinson 21-0 last week on the road, but rallied for a victory to remain undefeated.
KEEP AN EYE ON: Berkeley quarterback Matthew Harkness. He threw two TD passes last week in a 40-14 victory over James Island.
DID YOU KNOW: Hanahan leads the series, 5-4.
West Ashley (4-2, 0-0) at Wando (2-4, 0-0)
LAST YEAR: Wando won, 56-35.
COACHES: Bobby Marion, West Ashley; Jimmy Noonan, Wando.
NOTABLE: West Ashley needs a victory to jumpstart a season that began with four straight victories. The Wildcats led Fort Dorchester 21-0 last week, but couldn’t capitalize, falling 28-21. Wando was off last week and has had two weeks to get healthy and prepare for the Region 7-AAAA clash.
KEEP AN EYE ON: Wando running back Kenny Waring. The junior speedster is averaging 12.9 yards per carry.
DID YOU KNOW: Wando leads the series, 9-4.
Cross (3-4, 1-0) at St. John’s (3-3, 1-0)
LAST YEAR: St. John’s won, 39-13.
COACHES: Sean Wright, Cross; Brad Bowles, St. John’s.
NOTABLE: Cross enters the Region 6-A showdown as the defending Division II-A state champ, but must shore up a defense that is allowing nearly 30 points per game. St. John’s has a modest two-game winning streak and has allowed only 19 points in eight quarters.
KEEP AN EYE ON: St. John’s running back Trevson Coakley. He rushed for 211 yards and a touchdown in last week’s 12-6 victory over Baptist Hill.
DID YOU KNOW: St. John’s leads the series, 11-5.
