Vigil planned Sunday for Alex Apps, killed while trying to sell truck on Craigslist

Alex Apps

A candlelight vigil is planned Sunday for Alex Apps, the 25-year-old College of Charleston senior killed while trying to sell his truck through Craiglist.

The vigil one of several ways people are expressing their grief.

The vigil is set for 7 p.m. Sunday on the beach near the Sullivan’s Island lighthouse. It’s being promoted on Facebook. Participants are asked to bring their own candles, perhaps in paper cups to protect the flames from the wind. It might be necessary to walk a bit because of limited parking spaces.

A Facebook page called Justice for Alex Apps had generated more than 30,000 “likes” by Friday.

A petition at calling for the maximum penalty for Apps’ killers has collected more than 5,000 signatures. The petition is seeking 10,000 signatures.

Apps’ body was found Monday night in a wooded area of Mount Pleasant.
