Berkeley County School District recognizes top administrators

Kerry Daugherty, principal of Timberland High School, is Berkeley County School District's High School Principal of the Year.

MONCKS CORNER – The Berkeley County School Board recognized the top leaders in the district at the elementary, middle and high school levels on Tuesday.

Principals and Assistant Principals of the Year awards are given annually in recognition of outstanding leaders who provide high-quality learning opportunities for students.

The Principals of the Year are:

Amanda Prince, College Park Elementary — Prince’s 22 years as an educator include first-grade teacher, Title One facilitator and assistant principal. She has served as the principal of College Park Elementary for the last five years.

Sissy Day, Sangaree Middle — Day started her tenure with the district in 1984 and has served as the principal of Sangaree Middle for three years. Her years in education include work as a reading teacher, teacher evaluator and assistant principal.

Kerry Daugherty, Timberland High — Daugherty has served as the principal of Timberland High for three years. In 12 years as an educator, he has been a business education teacher and assistant principal.

Assistant Principals of the year are: James Carraway, St. Stephen Elementary; Sharon Perry, Westview Middle; and Dan Davidson, Stratford High.

These six administrators will advance to the South Carolina Association for School Administrators state-level competitions.
