The Roper St. Francis Ryan White Program will host its fifth annual AIDS Walk and Red Ribbon 5K at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hampton Park in Charleston.

While much progress is being made to combat HIV/AIDS, South Carolina ranks eighth nationally in the number of reported AIDS cases. Last year, more than 2,300 cases of HIV/AIDs were reported in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties.

The Ryan White Program at the hospital provided comprehensive medical care to 610 patients in 2012, and the program enrolls approximately 100 new patients annually.

Registration is $30 for the run and $20 for the walk.
