Pentagon employees at Joint Base Charleston returned to work this morning after the Secretary of Defense over the weekend cleared the way for them to go back to their duties.
Base officials were still assessing this morning if the full workforce of about 5,000 civilians was at their desks. Not all of them were subject to furlough.
“We are back at work today,” a spokeswoman said.
It was not clear if the base’s commissaries were open, or world be open this week.
The workforce was out for four days during the Washington shutdown fight.
