Brady Exber fired his second straight round of 68 Thursday and took a three-shot lead heading into the final day of the Senior Azalea golf tournament at the Country Club of Charleston.

Exber, a retired hotel executive from Las Vegas, Nev., made six birdies, including four on the back nine, to take over first place in the 54-hole tournament.

Edward Vomastek of Traverse City, Mich., moved into second with a 69 for a 36-hole total of 3-under 139. First-round leader Rick Cloninger of Fort Mill made three bogeys in a four-hole stretch beginning at the seventh en route to a 3-over 74 and fell to third at 141. Country Club of Charleston member Bert Atkinson, Chris Corn of Rock Hill and Bill Leonard of Dallas, Ga., are tied for fourth at 144.

Ted Smith of Wilkinson, Ind., posted a 73 for a 141 total and moved a shot ahead of first-round leader Bob Howe of Larchmont, N.Y., in the Super Seniors division.

The tournament, for players 55 and older, winds up today with the first players starting at 8:30 a.m. and the leaders teeing off at 10:18 a.m.
