Charleston police have arrested a man accused of fathering a child with a 13-year-old girl.
Anthony Kareem Hicks, 37, of Percy Street in Charleston, was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
A detective in an arrest affidavit accused Hicks of repeatedly having sex with the girl between August 2012 and June 2013. Hicks was in a relationship with the then 12-year-old girl’s mother when the alleged assault occurred, police said.
The mother at one point walked in on Hicks and the girl lying together on a sofa, and the girl’s shorts and underwear were pulled down her legs, according to the affidavit.
The alleged assault resulted in the birth of a child last month, police said.
Hicks is being held at the Charleston County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail, court records show.
