Military personnel and their families will be allowed to shop at Sam’s Club in the Tanger Outlet Mall without club memberships during the government shutdown.
The company announced Thursday that all Sam’s Club stores near military bases will waive the membership requirement for all military personnel because the shutdown forced closures of commissaries, which sell grocery items and dry goods at reduced prices to military families.
“Sam’s Club understands that helping communities meet their needs during uncertain times is the first step to restoring normalcy,” said spokeswoman Natalie Hite in a statement issued Thursday.
The waiver will continue until Congress reaches an agreement about government funding.
