Charleston County parents are invited to the school district’s fifth annual Parent University conference on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The event features workshops and speakers for parents, and it will be held at Stall High School, 3625 Ashley Phosphate Rd. in North Charleston. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
District Chief Academic Officer Lisa Herring will be the keynote speaker, and she will to give an update on the district’s strategic plan, Vision 2016, as well as what parents can help their children do to accomplish those goals.
Sessions also will cover topics such as ADD/ADHD and the new Common Core State Standards, which are the requirements for what students must learn in English/language arts and math in grades K-12.
A children’s program will be available for those ages 4-12, and the event will include a resource fair with information about the district’s community partners and departments.
