ATHENS, Ga. — The University of Georgia Institute for Women’s Studies plans to focus on the arts at its annual conference.
The university said in a news release that presentation topics at the fifth conference will include art as a tool for women’s healing, women in the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, women in hip-hop, gender in summer reading lists and art as discursive practices. The conference is set for Oct. 19.
The Women and Girls in Georgia Conference began in 2007. It brings together researchers, teachers, activists and community members to develop strategies to effect social change.
