Downtown Summerville will soon have free Wi-Fi service.
Through a $32,000 project funded by Google and administered by the town, Flowertown residents and businesses close to the downtown district near Town Hall will be able to access free Internet service beginning Tuesday afternoon.
The system includes seven wireless nodes around Town Hall and Hutchinson Square, generally along Main Street, West Luke Avenue, Richardson Avenue and East 2nd South Street. Internet users within 400 feet of the system’s nodes should be able to get free access.
Town and Google officials will make the announcement at 2:30 p.m. at Town Hall, where participants will cut a multi-colored cord.
