Victoria Tsurutis, who won the 2009 Charleston Ladies City Amateur golf championship, heads the field for this year’s event that begins Friday at Municipal Golf Course.

Thirty players, including 10 seniors, are competing in the 36-hole tournament.

Tee times Friday and Saturday are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.

Sailing

Academic Magnet captured first place in the North Points 1 Regatta sailed recently in Charleston Harbor. Teams from Wando, School of the Arts, Porter-Gaud, Ashley Hall, Bishop England and James Island also participated in the 19-team event.

Teams sailed two-man 420 sailboats with each team racing in an A Fleet and B Fleet.
