Fuel spill partially blocked Cosgrove Avenue, officials say

A fuel truck dumped 100 gallons of diesel fuel on a North Charleston street early Tuesday morning.

The spill on Cosgrove Avenue near the Interstate 26 entrance ramp was reported just after 5 a.m.

The driver didn’t stop, and police don’t know who is responsible, North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.

Police closed a lane and the eastbound entrance ramp and called the state Department of Environmental Control to supervise the cleanup. The job was expected to be finished by early afternoon.
