Bicyclist badly hurt on Folly Beach

A car hit a bike shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday at East Cooper Avenue and 5th Street on Folly Beach, critically injuring the bike rider.

A bicyclist was badly hurt on Folly Beach Tuesday.

A car hit the bike shortly before 5 p.m. at East Cooper Avenue and 5th Street, according to Charleston County sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady.

The bicyclist was taken to Medical University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office was investigating the accident.
