Bus and tour company representatives from across the United States and Canada will gather at Patriots Point today for part of the American Bus Association’s fall board meeting. The attendees make up members of the ABA, which brings dozens of group visits to Patriots Point each year.
“These tour groups are imperative to our museum’s operation,” Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette said. “Not only does their choice to visit us each year benefit Patriots Point, but the restaurants, shops and hotels within the Charleston area. They’re a win-win for the Lowcountry.”
Last year, Patriots Point averaged more than 250,000 ticket-paying visitors to the museum. Of those, around 55,000 were part of a group tour to Charleston.
The bus group members will be aboard the World War II-era aircraft carrier Yorktown from 7-10 p.m.
