Museum Mile Weekend offers pass to 13 sites

No weekend plans? How about a trip to the museum? Or several, for that matter.

The fifth annual Museum Mile Weekend starts today and runs through Sunday. For a single, $25 pass, you can visit 13 sites along and around Meeting Street over the three-day weekend.

Along the one-mile section, tourists and residents can visit museums, nationally important historic houses and the 300-year-old Powder Magazine as well as scenic parks.

Many sites will have special programming for the three-day weekend. The sites include the Gibbes Museum of Art, 135 Meeting St.; The Old Slave Mart Museum, 6 Chalmers St.; The Confederate Museum, 188 Meeting St.; The Joseph Manigault House, 350 Meeting St.; Aiken-Rhett House, 48 Elizabeth St.; Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry, 25 Ann St.; Edmondston-Alston House, 21 East Battery; Heyward-Washington House, 87 Church St.; The Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, 122 East Bay St.; The Charleston Museum 360 Meeting St.; The Powder Magazine, 79 Cumberland St.; Nathaniel Russell House, 51 Meeting St.; and the South Carolina Historical Society, 100 Meeting St.

The Weekend Pass is $25 for adults and $10 for ages 12 and under. Passes are available at www.charlestonsmuseummile.org and official Charleston Visitor Center locations.
