Man accused of shooting construction worker in head 2 years ago arrested
The man accused of shooting a construction worker in the head more than two years ago in Colleton County has been arrested.
Marvis Jermaine Williams, 33, of Yemassee, was charged this weekend with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
He is accused of shooting Randall Herndon on July 16, 2011, at the Hiers Construction Co. on Green Pond Highway, according to investigators.
Herndon, who was 64 years old at the time, called 911 at 4:43 a.m. and told the operator that someone had come up behind him and shot him, according to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office.
Herndon was shot three times in the shoulder and head area and was hospitalized, authorities said.
Investigators believe Williams shot Herndon while attempting to rob him, according to authorities. A magistrate judge set his bail at $160,000 on both charges.
