South Carolina rose one spot to No. 12 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 Poll, which was released Sunday.
The Gamecocks jumped Michigan in the poll following a 35-25 win against Vanderbilt on Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium. The Wolverines fell three spots to No. 15 after a narrow, 28-24 home win against woeful Akron.
USC has the third-highest rank among one-loss teams, behind fellow SEC foes Georgia and Texas A&M. The Aggies fell to No. 10 after a 49-42 home loss to Alabama on Saturday.
Alabama widened its gridlock on the poll’s top spot. The Tide was followed by Oregon, Clemson, Ohio State, Stanford, LSU, Louisville, Florida State, Georgia and TAMU in the top 10. That’s four SEC teams, two ACC, two Pac-12, one Big Ten and one American Athletic Association.
Clemson stayed put at No. 3 in the poll after being idle last week. The Tigers will travel to North Carolina State on Thursday.
