Small earthquake rattles Summerville Saturday night

A 2.3-magnitude earthquake rattled beneath Summerville Saturday night.

The tremor occurred about 10:38 p.m., immediately prompting tweets and Facebook posts from nearby residents who reported feeling the shaking.

The epicenter of the tremor was about 2 miles south-southeast of Summerville, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Small earthquakes are frequently recorded in the area. Experts say they are no cause for concern.
