4845 Gilpen Court — Newer, two-story house on Wescott Plantation golf course provides upscale roominess as rental property

People looking to rent a home instead of an apartment may be searching for a place to stay awhile, a dwelling where they can spread out and enjoy their tenure.

They may be relocating from areas outside metro Charleston and aren’t adept yet at getting around. In some cases, the renters may be couples with children who desire a safe neighborhood close to schools that have been recommended as top notch.

In other words, the people who choose a residence to lease want the roominess, convenience and friendly neighbors they would expect to find if they were to buy a home.

A property in Wescott Plantation, 4845 Gilpen Court, would meet the description, according to its owner. “It is a family friendly neighborhood where the kids play outside in the cul-de-sac,” says Bob Gately, who lists the home for rent at $1,600 a month.

The two-story, 2,450-square-foot house sits alongside one of Wescott’s prized amenities.

“The house rests on a quiet, cul-de-sac location on the sixth-hole tee box of the Burn Kill course on the Wescott Plantation Golf Course,” Gately says. The community’s course sports 27 holes divided into three nine-hole layouts, each with an original name: Burn Kill, Oak Forest and Black Robin.

“This house is ideal for a family or an executive style rental,” he says.

Gately, who owns the three bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath residence, notes that the downstairs floor plan is “open and beautiful.”

From the front door, the house extends to a large living room, he says. A small island separates the living quarters from the family room, which in turn opens to the dining area and kitchen. The “large, modern” cooking center showcases a stainless steel refrigerator and stove. Also on the first floor stands a half-bathroom.

Three bedrooms and two full baths comprise the upstairs. The second floor also encompasses a gathering area “best described as a sitting/living room that may be changed into an optional fourth bedroom,” Gately says.

The exterior includes a one-fifth acre grass lot “that is well landscaped and easy to maintain,” he says. An attached two car garage leads to the good-sized laundry and wash room.

Located within Dorchester School District 2, the property also find itself in a “safe location,” he says.

The house is toward the eastern side of Wescott Plantation. Going west, follow Interstate 26 to exit 209 B, which is Ashley Phosphate Road. Turn left on Ashley Phosphate and travel to the intersection with Dorchester Road. Steer right onto Dorchester Road, proceed about three miles and make a right at the traffic light on Wescott Boulevard. Continue more than a mile and turn right on Harroway Road. Take the second left for Gilpen Court. Ahead is 4845 Gilpen Court.
