Berkeley beats Cane Bay, 28-13
MONCKS CORNER — Berkeley scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to squelch Cane Bay’s comeback bid in a 28-13 victory Friday night.
With a 14-13 lead in the final quarter, Berkeley’s Branden Williams intercepted a Cane Bay pass at the 21-yard line and galloped untouched for the touchdown. Vance Bailey’s PAT kick made it 21-13.
Two minutes later, Berkeley’s Matt Harkness picked up his own dropped snap and rambled five yards for a touchdown.
Cane Bay trailed 14-0 at halftime, but stormed back with a couple of touchdowns.
After Cane Bay recovered a Berkeley fumble on the second-half kickoff, Tyler Farr capped a five-play, 37-yard drive with a one-yard dive for a score at the 9:15 mark of the third quarter.
The Cobras faked a punt on their next drive as Romonte Frazier took the short snap and raced 12 yards for a first down. Cane Bay’s Devin Kilgore capped the drive with a 12-yard scoring toss to Devin Dingle. Phillip Jackson’s PAT sailed wide right and Berkeley held on to a slim 14-13 lead before putting the game away in the fourth quarter.
