Inspiration and information for women of color wanting to take their lives to the next level will be on tap Sept. 14.

The second annual Sister Summit Expo & Day Party is set for 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum.

The event is being produced by the DeJo Group, publisher of Living Roots Magazine. Some of the funds raised will help Magdalene House of Charleston, a two-year program for women recently released from prison or who are homeless.

Magdalene House offers a range of services including drug rehabilitation, life skills and education.

Expert-led seminars will include: health with Ida Spruill, MUSC; female empowerment with Jennet Alterman, former Center for Women executive director; beauty basics with Angie Ravenel, Angie’s Photography and Hair Studio; a hair workshop with Lowcountry stylists; belly dancing with Palmetto Oasis Middle Eastern Dance Troupe; and a style workshop with Theresa Spann, The Crimson Company.

Attendees will be able to learn about, sample and purchase products and services from more than 50 vendors at the event.

General admission is $12. VIP admission, which is $25, includes hors d’oeuvres, non-alcohol beverages, a swag bag, entry to the opening night reception and Sister Summit membership.
