Walterboro police are still searching for a gunman in a drive-by shooting that wounded a teenage girl.
Police officers were called to a Savage Street home Tuesday night concerning a teen suffering from a gunshot wound.
The 18-year-old girl told police that her mother’s screams prompted her to run through the house toward the home’s front porch shortly after 8 p.m.
The teen was preparing to clear the living room when a bullet entered the house and struck her lower, right leg, police said.
Witnesses reported that the round was fired from a red Cadillac. The vehicle’s occupants fired off several rounds and fled the scene, an incident report states.
Investigators recovered multiple spent cases at the scene, according to the report.
The wounded teen was transported to Colleton Medical Center for treatment of her injuries, police said.
The incident remains under investigation, police said.
