Two cousins drove from Mount Pleasant to North Charleston to break into unlocked cars at apartment complexes, according to police.
Darrow Antonio Brown, 24, of Rifle Range Road and Jasmine Nicole Brown, 21, of Boston Grill Road were arrested Wednesday and each charged with four counts of breaking into a motor vehicle.
The cousins were arrested on Greenridge Road coming out of North Bluff and Spring House apartments, according to the incident report.
Jasmine Brown told North Charleston police she drove her cousin around apartment complexes so he could go into unlocked cars looking for things to steal, according to the incident report. Police found a box of latex gloves in her car that she said her cousin used when he broke into cars, according to the report.
Police also said they found a checkbook taken from a black Hyundai in North Bluff apartments and a GPS device taken from a dark Honda Accord in Spring House apartments.
An officer stopped Jasmine Brown after a Spring House resident spotted the two of them walking around looking into cars, according to the report.
They were being held on Wednesday in the Charleston County jail.
Police have been keeping an eye on the apartments off Greenridge Road after a number of car break-ins have been reported. Officers have left notes on cars advising residents to keep their doors locked.
