Moncks Corner police are looking for a man they say stole more than 300 pounds of copper wire from Berkeley Electric Cooperative last week.
Deandre Rochard Weathers, 20, whose last known address was on Fairgrounds Road, is wanted on a charge of receiving stolen goods.
Berkeley Electric reported the theft last Friday, according to the incident report. An officer went to Berkeley Scrap Metal to see if anybody had brought in any copper. The officer recognized the stolen copper in a shed there.
A worker said Deandre Weathers had brought it in and she thought there was “something funny” about him at the time, according to the report. Weathers got $886.50 for 317 pounds of copper, according to the report. Officers returned the wire to Berkeley Electric.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective George Winningham at 843-719-7930 or 7917.
