Coast Guard rescues 3 from fishing vessel
A Charleston Coast Guard crew rescued three people from the water in Beaufort County after a commercial fishing vessel capsized Wednesday.
The 15-foot vessel capsized in St. Helena Sound about noon. A crew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter out of Charleston arrived on scene at 12:24 p.m. and hoisted the three persons aboard the copter, according to the Coast Guard. The crew flew to Johns Island Executive Airport, where the three mariners were transferred to their families.
No injuries were reported. No pollution was reported from the capsized vessel. The owner and operator of the vessel was scheduled to arrange salvage operations.
