Miley Cyrus to be host, musical guest on ‘SNL’
NEW YORK — Miley Cyrus may have something to talk about when she appears on “Saturday Night Live” next month.
NBC said this week that the singer and actress, who did some attention-getting twerking and found new uses for foam fingers during a duet with Robin Thicke on the MTV Video Music Awards last month, will be both host and musical guest of the NBC late-night program Oct. 5.
It will be the second new “Saturday Night Live” of the season. A week earlier, old favorite Tina Fey will be back as host. Arcade Fire will be the musical guest.
Alec Baldwin gets MSNBC talk show
NEW YORK — MSNBC’s prime-time lineup is getting some star power with Alec Baldwin, at least for one night a week.
The cable news network announced that the actor will host “Up Late with Alec Baldwin,” a current events and culture talk show to air at 10 p.m. Fridays. The show is modeled after a podcast he’s been doing for WNYC radio in New York, interviewing personalities such as David Letterman, Dick Cavett and Republican political strategist Ed Rollins.
The network said the show will begin in October. The two-time Emmy winner for “30 Rock” and 16-time host of “Saturday Night Live” may be back in familiar territory. But MSNBC says it hasn’t been determined yet whether Baldwin’s show will tape at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York.

A Stewart spokesman confirmed that the actor married Sunny Ozell on Saturday in a ceremony in Lake Tahoe officiated by Ian McKellen.
McKellen and Stewart will share the screen again in 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
