While police were patrolling an area on Johns Island that has recently been the subject of complaints alleging drug activity and break-ins, authorities arrested a man with about $600 worth of cocaine, according to police.
Antwan Pierre Jenkins, 26, of Granite Road on Wadmalaw Island, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, according to an incident report.
During Charleston police’s patrol of the Sea Island apartments on Maybank Highway on Aug. 28 at 11:05 p.m., they found a truck idling in a dimly lit area of the parking lot with one person inside, police said.
Police ordered the man, Jenkins, to open the door but he refused about four times, according to the incident report. After the multiple demands by police, Jenkins stepped out of the vehicle, the report stated.
Inside the truck, investigators found a digital scale with residue of white powder, which tested positive for cocaine, according to the report.
Police also found two bags of cocaine, which totaled about 6.8 grams of cocaine, about $680 worth, the report stated.
