The future home of a Harris Teeter supermarket in Summerville has been sold to a North Carolina real estate investment firm.
Charlotte-based Ferncroft Capital purchased The Summerville Plaza Shopping Center at 680 Bacons Bridge Road for $13.35 million, or about $110 a square foot.
The seller was an affiliate of Los Angeles-based MAB Rosenthal, Dorchester County property records show.
Ferncroft Capital has renamed the 13-acre property Sawmill Village. The new owner also is renovating the 121,000-square-foot center, which is near the Sawmill Branch Canal. Construction is scheduled to wrap up in fall 2014.
The shopping center previously had been anchored by a Piggly Wiggly supermarket, which closed in April after its 20-year lease expired.
Harris Teeter, which is being sold to Kroger, has not said when it plans to open at the Summerville site.
