Motorcyclist who died after crash on James Island is identified

A motorcycle rider died after a wreck on James Island Saturday night.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office identified him on Sunday as Rodney Yarbrough, 42, of James Island.

The driver was going west on Fort Johnson Road on a Harley Davidson when he passed a vehicle driven by his girlfriend in front of James Island High School about 11:30 p.m., Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said.

The motorcycle left the roadway when it attempted to re-enter the lane and the operator was unable to maintain control of the bike, Francis said. The motorcycle hit the ground and the driver was ejected from the bike.

He died from his injuries at Medical University Hospital, according to the coroner’s office.
