College of Charleston student charged after fatal wreck

A College of Charleston student faces multiple charges after a wreck that killed a fraternity brother Friday.

Henry Sims Farr, 18, of New York was driving a 2001 Range Rover Friday afternoon to Raleigh. Four other Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity members were riding along.

Farr’s SUV went off the left side of I-95 near Manning, hit a tree and overturned, according to the Highway Patrol.

Franklin Barker West, 18, of Alexandria, Va., died at the scene.

Farr was charged with felony driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, according to the Highway Patrol.

Two passengers remained hospitalized Sunday, but both were alert and talking to family members, college spokesman Mike Robertson said.
