Southern Season, the Chapel Hill-based specialty retailer of food, beverages and more, kicks off its launch in Mount Pleasant with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at 730 Coleman Blvd. Doors open at 9 a.m.
Located in Brookgreen Town Center in a former Food Lion, the 44,000-square-foot retailer is more than a gourmet food store. It sells cookware and kitchen items, offers a cooking school and includes a bar and restaurant called Southerly Restaurant and Patio.
While the new store will carry 70,000 items, including pricey cured hams, pates, fresh-baked goods and gourmet cheeses, it won’t stock most everyday staples such as produce, milk, seafood and fresh meats.
Look for entertainment, samples and vendor demos throughout the day.
