SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A man suspected of robbing a Spartanburg County store has died after turning his gun on himself.
Coroner Rusty Clevenger says 34-year-old Carson Glen Keen Jr. of Spartanburg was pronounced dead at a hospital at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Authorities say they were called to the scene at a Family Dollar earlier Friday afternoon. Investigators say they tracked a robbery suspect to a nearby area, and the man shot himself after a brief shootout with deputies.
No deputies were hurt, but all four officers are on leave while the incident is investigated.
An autopsy on Keen was planned for Saturday afternoon.
