Two people died in separate wrecks in Dorchester County Wednesday.
A 21-year-old woman was killed on I-26 between Harleyville and Ridgeville about 5 p.m., according to the Highway Patrol. Her 2007 Hyundai was going east and ran off the left side of the road near the 182 mile marker, swerved back across the right side of the road and struck a set of trees, according to troopers.
Rachel McBryde Kam-Johnson of Summerville was pronounced dead at the scene, Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said. She was a senior at Clemson University and was scheduled to graduate in December, according to her obituary from Dyal Funeral Home.
In a separate wreck, James Bernard Hancock, 58, of St. George was killed Wednesday night when his motorcycle ran off U.S. Highway 15 and struck a drainage pipe about 200 yards from his home, Nisbet said.
Speed played a role in the wreck, Nisbet said. Hancock wasn’t wearing a helmet and died from from a closed-head injury, cervical fracture and multiple facial fractures, Nisbet said.
