Joint Base Charleston change of command is Thursday
Joint Base Charleston will change leaders Thursday when Col. Richard McComb rotates out and the new commander, Col. Jeffrey DeVore, takes over.
As area commander for the past two years, McComb oversaw installation support for more than 86,000 airmen, sailors, soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, dependents and retirees across both the Air Base and nearby Naval Weapons Station.
McComb took command in July 2011 and is scheduled for an assignment to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
DeVore has commanded at the squadron and group level. He has also flown numerous combat missions in support of Operations Safe Haven, Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Joint Endeavor, Joint Guard, Joint Forge, Allied Force, Shining Hope, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Joint Task Force Horn of Africa.
The ceremony is set for 9 a.m.
