A McClellanville woman called 911 Thursday night and said her husband held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.
Orlando Humpery Richardson, 50, of Bellfield Road was arrested Monday night on a charge of criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and two counts of second-degree assault and battery.
Richardson’s wife said she and her husband got into an argument over “respect” and he pulled out a kitchen knife, held it to her neck and threatened to kill her, according to the incident report from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. They have been married nearly 30 years and have three children together, according to the report.
The woman told deputies her daughter came into the room and Richardson also threatened her with the knife before leaving.
Deputies found the knife on the kitchen floor, according to the report.
Deputies got arrest warrants for Richardson and took him into custody Monday night. They said they found a bag of marijuana in Richardson’s pocket when they arrested him, and he was charged with simple possession of marijuana.
Richardson’s bail was set at $150,620. He was being held in the Charleston County jail Tuesday.
