Cherokee Nation rallies in support of Veronica’s biological father in Oklahoma
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Supporters of 3-year-old Veronica’s biological father rallied Monday night at the Cherokee Nation headquarters, The Tulsa World reported.
Monday’s rally was the first public appearance for Dusten Brown and his family since a pair of Aug. 16 court hearings in Oklahoma aimed at ending the cross-country custody battle between him and Veronica’s adoptive parents, Matt and Melanie Capobianco of James Island.
A gag order has been imposed on the sides, and Brown did not directly talk about the case during Monday’s event, which Veronica did not attend. He did, however, say he wished Veronica could see the gathering, the newspaper reported.
“She’s happy,” The Tulsa World quoted Brown as saying. “She’s a happy child. She’s where she belongs.”
