Annapolis, Md. — Navy scored three times in the first half and went on to a 5-0 win over The Citadel in the finale of a two-game, season-opening road trip for the Bulldogs.
The Citadel defense stiffened after intermission, surrendering only one tally, and that didn’t come until the final two minutes of the game.
The Citadel dropped to 0-2 and will be back in action on Friday in its home opener against Jacksonville State at WLI Field with kickoff at 4 p.m.
The College of Charleston women fell, 1-0, to North Florida after they were unable to overcome a free-kick goal which they surrendered late in the first half at Patriots Point.
The Cougars (1-1) dictated the match for the majority of the contest and created quality chances, ultimately ending the match with a 14-13 shot advantage, but lacked the final touch needed to find the net.
Cougars keeper Eli Sarasola finished the match with four saves.
