Announced Thursday by the ACC office, the Tigers will partake in some rarities as they look to improve on a 13-18 campaign (5-13 conference) last year.
They say these things come in threes — and, in fact, there are three of them.
Three SEC opponents are certainly on the schedule. There’s South Carolina as usual, though the intrastate rivalry is earlier than its normal December post (Nov. 17.) Clemson plays another set of Tigers in Auburn on Dec. 19, and Arkansas is also on the docket, though a game date and location is yet to be announced.
Georgia could become the fourth SEC opponent, if the bracket shakes out that way in the Charleston Classic the week before Thanksgiving.
Three programs join the ACC this season, and Clemson is one of just two ACC programs to make a trip to Pittsburgh (Jan. 21), Syracuse (Feb. 9) and Notre Dame (Feb. 11) all in their maiden season with the league. Those schools have logged a combined 43 trips to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
Three home games conclude the regular season. Littlejohn Coliseum will be busy in early March, hosting Maryland, Miami and Pittsburgh in a seven-day span (March 2-8) leading up to the ACC tournament.
The Tigers host an exhibition against Francis Marion on Nov. 1, and the games start counting Nov. 8 vs. Stetson. The ACC slate opens Jan. 4 at Boston College, and the first league home game is Jan. 9 against Florida State.
Duke comes to Clemson on Jan. 11, and the Tigers go to North Carolina on Jan. 26.
The ACC Tournament is March 12-16 in Greensboro, N.C.
