Citadel basketball loses exhibition opener in Canada

WINSDOR, ONTARIO -- The Citadel basketball team dropped the first game in its three-game exhibition tour of Canada tonight, falling 64-63 to the University of Windsor.

Enrico DiLorento hit a running jumper at the buzzer for the Lancers, who had lost previous exhibition games to American squads Southern (76-71) and Marshall (86-80).

Sophomore Matt Van Scyoc led The Citadel with 18 points, hitting 7 of 14 from the field and 2 of 6 from 3-point range. Tom Koopman, a 6-8 freshman from Holland, had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Another freshman, Brian White, also scored 10 points. Guard Marshall Harris had seven points and eight assists.

The Citadel and Windsor will play again Tuesday before the Bulldogs end the trip with a game at Fanshawe College on Wednesday.
