Thousands are expected to turn out for free health care at a two-day clinic planned for Friday and Saturday in North Charleston.

What: Free clinic that will offer medical, eye and dental care to those in need.

When: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 6 a.m. to noon Saturday for medical and eye care. Free dental care will be available during the same hours on Friday and will run from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Where: Charleston Area Convention Center, 5001 Coliseum Drive (recently named Darius Rucker Boulevard), North Charleston

SC Mission 2013: Lowcountry will provide free medical and eye care to those in need and will run concurrently with the S.C. Dental Association’s Dental Access Days, which will provide free dental care at the Charleston Area Convention Center on the same days.

No documentation is required to receive the services. The medical and eye care services are for adults only, 17 years and older. The dental care is available to adults 18 years and older.

There will not be narcotics available at the event but resources will be made available to help patients to sign up for free prescription medications.

SC Mission 2013: Lowcountry is a project organized by the S.C. Hospital Association and includes health care volunteers, doctors and staff from Charleston-area hospitals.

A similar event was held by the hospital association in Columbia earlier this month. More than 1,300 patients received care over two days at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds.
