FORT MILL, S.C. -- Police in Charlotte, N.C., say a South Carolina woman has died after she fell from a dock on Lake Wylie and hit a metal bar.

Police say the woman fell around 2:30 a.m. Sunday

Fort Mill school superintendent Chuck Epps says the victim was 31-year-old Rebecca New, an art teacher at Gold Hill Elementary School.

Charlotte Police Capt. Todd Lontz says officers are trying to determine how she fell. But Lontz said there was no indication of foul play.

Teachers return to work at Gold Hill Elementary on Wednesday. Classes start Aug. 21. Grief counselors will be available.
