North Charleston man arrested after bike sale turns into robbery attempt
A North Charleston man who police say tried to rob somebody after buying a dirt bike from him last month was arrested Tuesday.
Charles Levonne Seabrook II, 23, of Eastway Street is charged with attempted strong-arm robbery and second-degree assault and battery.
Here’s what happened, according to Charleston police.
A man posted a dirt bike for sale on Craigslist for $1,200. A man called and said he wanted to buy a different dirt bike. They agreed to meet at a house on Bresee Street July 26. The man bought the bike.
Somebody tapped the seller on the shoulder and punched him in the face. The victim fell and the man went through his pockets looking for the money. Witnesses prevented the man from getting the money and chased him away.
Seabrook was being held in the Charleston County jail Tuesday.
