87-year-old Harleyville man dies after colliding with truck
An 87-year-old driver died after crossing the center line and hitting a tractor trailer in Harleyville Tuesday.
The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office identified him as Robert Limehouse Jr. of Otey Lane. He died at the scene, Coroner Chris Nisbet said.
An autopsy is planned to try to determine if he may have had some type of medical episode which would have caused him to wreck, Nisbet said.
The accident happened about 5:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 178 near First Bend Road, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
A 1996 Buick was traveling west on U.S. 178, crossed the center line and hit a 1995 Kenworth tractor trailer heading east, Sgt. Bob Beres said.
The truck driver was not injured. Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt, Beres said. There were no passengers.
